Parent's Night Off

Becky and I enjoy the time we get to spend alone. One of the former teachers at our school told us that once we had children it would be almost impossible to just simply spend time together. I began thinking about a parent's night off. Becky and I talked about it and thought it would be fun to invite the kids over for an evening. By inviting them over we would have fun with their kids, practice our parenting skills and give the parents some time to themselves.

We decided on April 10th then talked to the parents from our school and invited the kids over. When the date finally arrived the children started to arrive around 5:30pm. Carlston was the first and brought a few videos. Next Ivan, Heinrich and Henry arrived with pizza money, some games and lot's of DVDs. We were set for a great time and said good bye to the parents.

We played Yahoo games for a while, started a video and ordered pizza. After a while we started to play "Age of Empires II" which lasted for hours. The boys took turns playing each other. Before we knew it Carlston's father called to say he was coming to pick him up. Carlston left a while after 10:00pm.

After Carlston left we watched a couple of DVDs and began dropping hints for Henry (the youngest) that it was bed time. After the second movie Ivan took Henry to the bedroom and it was just me and Heinrich left.

Heinrich had challanged me to a head-to-head match of "Age of Empires II" so we play two or three games. After the first game I realized I could not beat him head to head so I collected the relics and buckled down my stronghold. Heinrich is very good player and I look forward to playing him again.

Finally Heinrich and I looked at a few of my web pages and he started his own web page. At around 5am we both were tired and went to bed. The boy's mom called us at around 10 am and told us we could not keep them so I woke them up and sent them home. The cutest thing was when I went into the three boys room, Henry was laying at the foot of the bed awake waiting for his brothers to get up. Henry is really a lot of fun and full of energy.

Well that was the first parents night off and we had tons of fun. We would like to thank the parents for lending us their children for the night. We hope to do it again as soon as possible. Be sure to check the pictures out at buzznet.com. There are a few pictures taken by Henry who is four years old.
